Export straight to Word or PowerPoint
Open the menu next to “Download PNG” and choose “Export Word (docx)” or “Export PowerPoint (pptx)”. The file contains:
- a high-resolution image of the diagram in the current theme (3x resolution, with the theme background), scaled to the page width in Word or centred on the first slide in PowerPoint;
- the original Mermaid code at the end (on a second slide in PowerPoint), plus a one-line credit.
The code is there so you can edit later: copy it back into Diagramate, change it, and export again. The image itself cannot be edited inside Office.
Into an existing document
- Word, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Notion: use “Copy PNG to clipboard” and paste directly. This is the quickest route.
- Transparent background: download the PNG with “Transparent” (the default) so it sits on coloured pages without a white box.
- Sharp at any size: switch the scale to 3x before downloading, or export SVG. SVG is vector, stays sharp at any zoom, and can be inserted in Office 2016 and later.
The background follows the theme
Whatever background you see in the preview is what lands in the file. Dark themes (Dark, Ink Black) export dark docx and pptx files; switch back to Light before inserting into a white document.
Export the whole reply as Word / PowerPoint (Pro)
A whole reply copied from an AI chat usually has headings, key points and tables around the Mermaid code. After you paste the whole reply into the editor (or the home page paste box), the export menu gets a new first item, “Export whole reply (Word / PowerPoint)”, which lays the whole reply out as one document:
- Word: headings, text, lists, tables and code blocks use Word's own styles (“Heading 1”, “Normal” and so on), so one style change updates the whole document and you can insert a table of contents. Every diagram sits where it was, in the current theme, numbered “Figure 1”, “Figure 2”; when a diagram directly follows a heading, that heading becomes its caption. The source of every diagram is appended at the end.
- PowerPoint: the cover is the document title, one slide per heading with automatic continuation slides, native tables, and a slide for each diagram. Code blocks are left out of PowerPoint (unreadable on a projector) and kept in Word.
- Two layouts: business (sans-serif, coloured table headers, no indent) and formal / academic (serif body with first-line indent, three-line tables). Pick one before exporting.
- Title: prefilled from the reply's top-level heading; if there isn't one, type a title in the dialog. It is also used as the file name.
- Openers like “Sure, here is…” and closers like “If you'd like, I can also…” are dropped; the rest of the text is untouched.
- The diagram you edited, moved or annotated in the code box is exported in its edited form; the others come from the reply as written.
The reply is kept only in this browser on this device (and cleared when you load something else); layout and file generation happen in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Replies with only code and no text don't get this item — use the single-diagram export above. On the free plan the item opens a description with a sample; exporting a single diagram in every format stays free.
Batch / bundle export (Pro)
The last item in the export menu, “Batch / bundle export (zip)”, packs several diagrams in several formats into one zip. The list can include the diagram in the editor, every diagram found in a whole AI reply you paste into the dialog (each one is listed separately), and, once signed in, diagrams saved in the cloud. Pick any mix of PNG, SVG, PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Mermaid source; PNG uses the scale and background currently set in the export menu. Rendering and export happen in your browser; a diagram that fails is listed under the summary and the rest are packed as usual. On the free plan the menu item shows a lock; single-diagram export in every format is unchanged.
